Claude St. Romain, needed help to upgrade his computer in order to start a new job working from home.
NYCSCIA provided him with the adaptive equipment he needed to return to work, continue his studies and help him stay connected with the community.
Please see Claude's e-mail below informing us how things are going!
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am happy to report that I received, and assembled the computer a few days ago!
I would like to again express my sincerest gratitude and thanks to you, the Board of Directors and members of the Greater New York Chapter of the NSCIA, for providing me with my new home computer. This new PC now enables me to fully enhance my system, and upgrade the technical capabilities of my ‘Home Office’. It helps me tremendously to work more efficiently, continue my studies: and also drastically improves my connectivity.
Once again, the NSCIA is playing a major role in improving the lives of members of the physically challenged community, and our families. Your outstanding services, and outreach efforts have allowed this Greater New York Chapter to exemplify itself tremendously among the local disabled community and beyond. You have every reason to be extremely proud of your exceptional work. “Kudos” to you all! I am living testimony of your fantastic services!
On behalf of my family, I would like to thank you profusely for your most timely donation. We wish you much continued success; and hereby send lots of love and blessings to you all and your families.
Sincerely,
Claude St. Romain

On July 22, 2008, Sarah Middeleer leaned against a rotted fence and fell off a small cliff in her backyard, sustaining a T10 complete spinal cord injury. Sarah 's goal after the accident was to return to work as a landscape designer working for a design/build firm. As she told us, “My job involves a varied activities, from desk work to client meetings, job site evaluations and overseeing project implementation. For measuring job sites and overseeing planting and masonry, etc., I will need a wheelchair that can traverse uneven, unpaved terrain.”
We were delighted to help her maximize her independence and return to work by presenting her with a trike from No Limits Trikes.

To the Board:
I am writing today to thank you for your generous gift of the trike. I picked it up about a week ago, and I am very glad to have it. Jim Seery and his brother John did a wonderful job with the fabrication and took care to make sure the trike fit my chair and worked well.
Many months have passed since I wrote to ask for your help, and each passing week brings new experiences and lessons. One surprise has been the generosity and kindness of people—some whom I know well, and some new acquaintances. I am constantly amazed and grateful for the many ways people have helped me, and this is true for what you have done as well.
Having the trike will make a huge difference in the way I experience my condition. Working outside has always been a great joy to me, and now I can begin to enjoy it once again. But most importantly, the trike will allow me to approach the level of mobility I once had, offsetting the negative impact on my career that my injury had threatened.
I'm including a couple of photos of Jim Seery and me taken by John Seery the day that I picked up the trike from them.
With best wishes,
Sarah W. Middeleer
